








On September 12, the Academy of Justice under the High Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a guest lecture delivered by representatives of the UK judiciary – District Judge and Deputy High Court Judge Rachel Karp, District Judge and former Family Court Judge Margaret Glentworth, and Senior Human Dimension Officer at the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, Nicholas Mazik. The lecture focused on the topic: “Access to Justice for Vulnerable Groups: A Perspective from the United Kingdom.”
The event brought together representatives of the High Judicial Council, the OSCE, Kazakhstan’s judicial system, the legal community, as well as faculty members and master’s students of the Academy of Justice.
With opening remarks, Deputy Head of the Apparatus of the High Judicial Council, Laura Kurmantaeva, and Acting Rector of the Academy of Justice, Kanat Mussin, highlighted the significance of this event, which aims to strengthen the Academy’s international partnerships in the field of judicial education with the support of the High Judicial Council.
During the lecture, the British experts shared insights into the application of international standards, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring access to justice for vulnerable groups such as children, persons with limited legal capacity, and survivors of violence. The discussion also addressed the integration of advanced technologies, including the use of artificial intelligence to enhance judicial efficiency.
The event was marked by a lively exchange of views, with participants receiving comprehensive and insightful answers to their pressing questions.
