On March 28, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a meeting of the Scientific Advisory Council led by the Chairman of the Judicial Board for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court, N.M. Rakhmetullina, which was attended by judges of the Supreme Court, members of the relevant section of the Scientific Advisory Council, as well as representatives of government agencies.
The agenda included a discussion of the draft of regulatory decree of the Supreme Court “On the application of legislation regulating the consideration of criminal cases in cassation”, prepared in connection with amendments and additions to the criminal procedure legislation on issues related to the introduction of continuous cassation in criminal cases from July 1, 2025 and the upcoming activities of the cassation courts.
A member of the Scientific Advisory Council, Doctor of Law, Professor at the Scientific and Educational Center for State and Legal Disciplines of the Academy of Justice under the High Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Leyla Sultanovna Zhakayeva, emphasized the special importance of this regulatory resolution for the proper application of legislation and ensuring uniformity of judicial practice, focused on individual proposals and recommendations for improvement of this draft.
