On February 6, 2025, Venera Abykanovna Zheksembayeva, Associate Professor at the Scientific and Educational Center for State and Legal Disciplines, conducted an open lesson on «Judicial communication: barriers to interaction» within the framework of the discipline «Rhetoric and Communication in Judicial Activity».
The lesson consisted of two parts: the master’s students conducted a business game «Press conferences for media representatives on domestic violence»; then the lecturer analyzed the press conference from the point of view of overcoming communication barriers.
Conducting classes in the form of a game press conference allowed master’s students to acquire practical skills in interacting with media representatives. They demonstrated the ability to explain legal categories and processes in a language accessible to the target audience, express their thoughts correctly, have a constructive discussion, and respond appropriately to provocative questions from journalists and their protest behavior.
At the end of the lesson, the lecturer analyzed the press conference organized by the master’s students: she positively assessed the successful overcoming of gender and language barriers, gave recommendations and advice on how to effectively overcome behavioral and emotional barriers.
