A Round Table on Republic Day Held at the Academy of Justice

On October 20, 2026, the Academy of Justice under the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a round table entitled “Sovereignty and the Rule of Law: Constitutional Foundations for the Modernization of National Legislation,” dedicated to Republic Day. As part of the commemorative events, representatives of the Academy also supported and actively participated in an international dialogue organized at Yessenov University.

The round table at the Academy was attended by Dr. Venera Zheksembekova, Professor of Political Science; Aigul Assylbekova, PhD, Associate Professor at the Scientific and Educational Centre; and the Academy’s master’s students.

During the round table, speakers Zhanar Rakhieva and Madina Akhmetzhan highlighted the historical significance of Republic Day in strengthening the country’s statehood and upholding the rule of law.

The speakers provided a comprehensive analysis of the stages in the formation of state sovereignty, the political and legal significance of the 1990 Declaration of State Sovereignty, and the importance of strengthening national identity and revitalizing historical consciousness.

Following the event, master’s students who had demonstrated outstanding engagement were presented with letters of appreciation on behalf of Professor V.A. Zheksembekova.

On the same day, a delegation from the Academy also participated in the international round table entitled “Republic Day: Honouring the Past, Shaping the Future,” held at Yessenov University in Aktau. The event brought together domestic and international experts, including representatives of:

* Hacettepe University (Ankara, Türkiye);

* the Department of Eurasian and Political Studies of the Institute of State History (Astana);

* the Mangystau Region Police Department;

* the Information and Analytical Centre for Religious Affairs of the Mangystau Region.

The international discussion focused on a wide range of issues, including strengthening national identity, developing historical consciousness, promoting public diplomacy, fostering legal culture, and advancing contemporary ethical standards in public life.

The open dialogue provided master’s students with an excellent opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of pressing societal issues, strengthen their sense of civic responsibility, and broaden their horizons.
