On November 18, 2024, Honorary Lawyer of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Law, Professor Marat Chekishevich Kogamov was invited to give a lecture on the topic “Protection of Individual Rights in Pre-Trial Criminal Process by Methods of Judicial Review” during the advanced training courses for investigative judges conducted by the Academy of Justice under the High Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the lecture, an analysis of the norms of the criminal procedure legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan regulating the powers of the investigative judge, the activities of investigative courts, the relationship between prosecutorial supervision and judicial review during pre-trial proceedings was conducted.
The lecturer focused the attention of the investigative judges on the theoretical justification of certain provisions of the norms of the criminal procedure legislation, and also raised issues of improving the legislative regulation of judicial protection of individual rights in criminal proceedings.
